about this role
PANGAIA is searching for a commercially aware Compliance and Garment Technologist for a new, exciting venture that will be launching in partnership with PANGAIA. You will be responsible for the correct fit and performance of a garment, ensuring on-time sealing of all styles, correct to design specifications and bulk production meets quality standards. Working in conjunction with the design, PD team and factories, you will instruct on choosing the right fabric, on garment measurements and construction to enable the production of prototypes and to ensure our products consistently exceed expectations regarding quality, performance and fit.

a day in the life
- Support new blocks developments and improvements on current blocks as required, working with the supplier base to establish these, creating measurement charts and pattern work from design concepts and reference samples
- Product lifecycle management from specification, through development and monitoring returns reports with a view to continuously review and improve product
- Attend fit sessions, conduct risk assessments of all products, ensure all fit comments are accurate, approve specifications and standardize product blocks
- Analyze technical issues accurately and send clear, concise and accurate comments to suppliers to enable processing samples in a timely and agile manner
- Define and manage size standards for all product categories, establishing and maintaining company’s fit and size standards
- Launch and approve graded spec charts and ensure consistency across vendors. Creating and updating measurement specs and tech packs
- Monitor products are compliant with all legislation and certification standards and keep testing records and testing manual updated related, but not limited, to safety and labeling compliance
- Assist in due diligence testing procedure and budget while supporting vendors on testing and compliance requirements; approve al test reports and labels layouts, recommend and approve all wash-care instructions and be commercially aware
- Analyzing and creating product return reports and faults and suggest changes and improvements to clothing designs to counter-correct
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience within apparel product in garment technology and quality control with versatile skills across menswear, womenswear and kidswear being beneficial
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in textiles or equivalent field
- Strong understanding and technical expertise of garment construction, fabric technology, compliance amp; testing to deliver quality product that are safe, legal and fit for purpose
- Knowledge of pattern making (preferably 2D, e.g.: Gerber) with previous experience as pattern maker/cutter is highly desirable
- Proven track record of setting quality standards across a variety of product categories is essential
- Extensive experience in grading across menswear and womenswear (kidswear would also be beneficial)
- Passion for sustainability and knowledge of current environmental issues surrounding consumer product
- Strong communication and collaboration with cross functional partners required; ability and influence to drive change
- Written and oral fluency in both Portuguese and English
