about this role
PANGAIA is searching for an experienced Head of Product who can help drive the design, development, and compliance of all our product categories for a new, exciting venture that will be launching in partnership with PANGAIA. This candidate will play a critical role in shaping the new entity’s future and will work closely with the leadership team to execute the product roadmap in alignment with the vision for the company. This is a high volume and quick turnaround company, so someone who is capable of thriving in these circumstances is essential for joining our team.
As the Head of Product Development, you will be responsible for the leadership, direction, and oversight of all development activity from design and into each step until product is handed off to production. You will be a leader within a fast-paced organization, helping in building your own team as we grow, as well as designing and implementing initiatives and processes that support the company’s continuous success.

a day in the life
- Act as one of the first members of a new startup, that will be launching in partnership with PANGAIA, and help shape and guide its vision
- Lead the work to develop and recruit departmental roles for the areas of product design, product development and product compliance. Growing and setting a highly productive organizational structure and processes
- Ensuring all products and projects meet the company’s criteria in terms of profit margins, material innovations, sustainability, product integrity, and quality requirements
- Responsible for full cycle from product design and development into its final commercialization, in accordance with agreed product roadmap with the leadership team
- Helps identifying and implementing tools and processes with a digital-first mindset (2D amp; 3D design and pattern making; cloud-based collaboration platforms)
- Working closely with the Materials team to ensure on track commercialization of fabric amp; trims, and the Impact team on material approval and LCA supply chain transparency from a fiber level
- Cross-functional interaction with all departments to communicate the product attributes amp; vision, including engineering team, sales team, production team, customer experience team
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in a managerial/leadership role in fashion product development (women’s and men’s multi categories), with proven record of building a team and implementing new ways of working and adoption/implementation of digital practices
- Extensive global industry experience to support and bridge the gap between the creative vision, margin management, sourcing and vendor network
- Must have detailed understanding and experience with construction techniques, ideally with experience working with innovative and sustainable practices and materials
- Very open and willing to learn continuously, challenging how things have always been done and find more efficient ways by means of new technologies (e.g: 3D design and digital collaboration platforms) and agile processes
- Strong ability to understand design concepts and have a clear track record of developing products that meet design, costing, quality and commercial scalability requirements
- Proven timeline and project management experience, be very disciplined and details oriented
- Passion for sustainability and knowledge of current environmental issues surrounding consumer product
- Strong communication and collaboration with cross functional partners required; ability to mentor and lead the Product team, to influence the team to ultimately
- Experience in a high-growth start-up environment is preferable
- Written and oral fluency in English, with the ability to clearly, concisely, and accurately communicate technical product issues
